Expansion Plans Following Acquisition

Monday 14th May 2007

Five successful months following its acquisition of Phoenix Engineering, Groveley Engineering is looking to expand with further investment in equipment.

Director Robert Bennet said: "We enjoyed a quick and smooth transition with the former Phoenix staff and equipment moving to our site and integrating well; now we're considering how to invest to make even better use of the space we have.

"The wider skills and equipment have enabled us to supply additional products and services to our customers. And we retained many of Phoenix's original customers, some of which have increased their spend because of our increased capacity."

Equipment acquired in the move included a Co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) for highly-accurate component measuring. Plans to purchase more CNC machines will boost productivity and maximise space at the Groveley Road factory.

General manager Chris Smith said: "We were very pleased how well the staff merged. Many had been employed at Phoenix for 18-20 years so it was always going to be a wrench for them, but they fitted in well with the culture at Groveley."
